Earth-Kind Roses
Earth-Kind is a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension designation for roses that have shown strong landscape performance under low-input trial conditions. It is especially useful for gardeners looking for practical shrub, old garden, polyantha, China, tea, and landscape roses that can perform with reduced pesticide and water inputs after establishment.
What the designation supports
- Earth-Kind candidates are tested for several years and evaluated for landscape performance and pest tolerance.
- The programme is strongest evidence for Texas and similar trial contexts, but several cultivars are useful far beyond Texas.
- A cultivar page should still state cold-hardiness, size, and disease caveats because Earth-Kind does not mean suitable for every site.
