Peace
Peace, also recorded as Madame A. Meilland, is one of the best-known hybrid tea roses. Treat it as a classic large-flowered rose with major historical importance, not as a modern low-spray landscape shrub.
Growing notes
In humid summers, plan for black spot and powdery mildew prevention rather than assuming clean foliage. In cold climates, hybrid tea cane dieback, graft protection, and spring pruning to live wood can matter. In UK gardens, RHS H6 and RHS disease notes are the baseline.

- Whole plant from several feet away, including support or container.
- A fresh bloom and an older bloom.
- Leaf upper and lower surfaces.
- Cane base, graft or own-root shoots if visible.
- Any disease, mite, herbicide, or RRD-like symptoms with dates and weather context.
Common cautions
- Its regional names are important: Madame A. Meilland, Gioia, and Gloria Dei can all refer to Peace.
- Because it is famous, many yellow blend hybrid teas are misidentified as Peace from photos alone.
